A very close friend of mine had to be taken to the hospital two nights ago because she had numbness in her face and had problems with her vision.

I am not however, writing this post to tell the story of the events that have occurred over the last 48 hours. I am writing this post to talk about the events that could happen over the NEXT 48 hours.

My friend Amy is home now and all indications are that there is no long-term damage to her physically.  OK, so what’s the story?

The story to me starts here.  Because of her recovery, she can tell her story and we can all rejoice in the fact that she is alright, we can be thankful and get back to normal.

But what if? … Sometimes we don’t get another chance to do the things we want to do or start something we have been putting off for way too long. I can’t count the amount of times that I have said “I wish I would have …..”  The sad thing is, many of those things I will never have the chance to do.  I waited too long.

Don’t get me wrong – this is not a blog about regrets, but simply missed opportunities. We only live once and some opportunities only come once in a lifetime.  I know it’s unrealistic to think that we will take advantage of every opportunity but this I know … We all need to start turning “I should have” into “I did.”

Here are some reasons why you should actually DO or START something in the next 48 hours that you have been putting off:

1.  IT MIGHT CHANGE YOUR LIFE

There are no doubt, numerous things that you have told yourself you would like to do.  But for one of any number of reasons you have never gone for it.  There is something that has held you back.  Fear?  Doubt?  It doesn’t really matter what the reason is.

We all have a purpose here on earth and many of us fall short in achieving it.  Whatever that something is, instead of all the reasons why you can’t do it, start thinking in terms of how you can do it.

2.  IT MIGHT CHANGE SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE

I don’t know the reason why, but for some reason I have become much more aware of so many of the people around me and the lack of fulfillment that they feel in their lives.  Life is so demanding – full of schedules, lists and deadlines.  There simply is not enough time to do the things that we want to do.  Right?  I say wrong!  One of the things I am committed to doing is helping others to figure out their passion and their purpose and living the life they were meant to live.

Most of you know that Zig Ziglar passed away recently.  One of my favorite quotes of his is:

“If you help other people get what they want and they will help you get what you want.”

I think there is a lot of truth in that statement.  It is hard to describe the feeling of helping another person find their purpose.  I guess for me, both the ideas above sort of go hand in hand.  I want other people to enjoy their life and reach their potential and I intend on helping them do it.

I don’t know what your “wudda, cudda, shudda’s” are, but I do know that they are important.  They are important to you becoming who you were meant to be.

Quit making excuses as to why you can’t do that thing that you want to do.  Make today the day that you make the decision that “I am going to do it and this is how I can”. There will never be the perfect time, so quit making excuses and go for it.

Yes, I am still in touch with reality and I understand that sometimes things don’t work out, BUT WHAT IF THEY DO!
